SDUHSD NAMES INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT

April 30, 2021

Tuesday evening (April 27) during a Special Board meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a Voluntary Resignation Agreement for Dr. Robert Haley. On behalf of the entire district, we wish him well.

In this unusual time of transition, the Board recognizes the need for consistency and stability for our teachers, staff, and most importantly, our students. During a Special Board meeting last evening (April 29), the Board reviewed 14 applications and interviewed eight candidates for the position of Interim Superintendent. After a comprehensive interview process and consideration, the Board appointed Lucile Lynch to serve as Interim Superintendent, subject to ratification of an Employment Agreement at the regular Board meeting in May. The Board plans to immediately begin a nationwide search for the permanent Superintendent position.

Ms. Lynch has lived in the district for the entire duration of her children’s educational careers. Her two sons are proud graduates of Oak Crest Middle School and La Costa Canyon High School, where she volunteered in a variety of capacities. A former Assistant District Attorney, founder of an educational products corporation and dedicated Education Advocate, Ms. Lynch also founded Beacons, Inc., a nonprofit public benefit corporation that provides vocational training to bridge gaps to employment. Using her business and educational background, Ms. Lynch looks forward to continuing a collaborative relationship with all stakeholders and working productively with the Board to support their vision.
