Partners in Your Child's Education

There are several ways you can stay involved and support your student's learning:

  • Regular Check-ins: Schedule consistent check-ins with your student each week. Ask them to show you what they're working on in their Google Classrooms and discuss upcoming deadlines.

  • Communicating with Teachers and Counselors: Your student's teacher is your partner and the best source for information about their classroom. Discuss questions with your student first, then communicate directly with the teacher. Counselors are partners in supporting a student’s academic, social, and emotional needs.

  • Aeries Parent Portal: This is an essential tool for monitoring student academic progress and attendance. Within Aeries, you can view grades, attendance, and updates on academic performance.

  • Google Classroom Guardian Summaries: You can sign up to receive a daily or weekly email overview of your student's assignments and announcements.

  • Student Tech Hub: SDUHSD created the Tech Hub to meet students' technological needs, offering guidance on school accounts, Chromebook use, and Google Workspace.

  • Parent Access to Instructional Materials: In California, Education Code Section 51101 grants parents the right to review their student's instructional materials. If a parent/guardian has concerns about instructional materials, they may request a review as detailed in Board Policy/Administrative Regulation/Exhibit 1312.2. For requests regarding campus visits or classroom observations to support their student, parents should work with their student’s administrator, in alignment with Board Policy/Administrative Regulation 1250.
